I am a 52 year old RN and mother of four grown children. I
married a year after finishing nursing school and started a
family after five years of marriage. I was married for 17
years and have been divorced for 10 years, but just had my
first relationship a year ago.
This was an unhealthy
relationship because I did not know how to set boundaries or
to keep from repeating past relational mistakes. However, it
motivated me to get on with my life, to discover why I had not
dated for ten years and to figure out what part I played in
ending up with the type of men that I did.
I started working with a counselor and taking many classes,
some for relational growth, some for career growth, and some
just for fun (dancing!).
I began dating, but was able to see
that most of my dates were not available. I then came across
Dr. Wylie’s class, which pulled together everything I had been
trying to do. I scheduled 10 Relational Skill Building
sessions with her and about halfway through met my potential
Life Partner, 3 months after attending the class!
Dr. Wylie
helped me get on the right track in this relationship. With
the skills I learned from her class, our individual sessions
and other resources that she recommended I have approached
this relationship with confidence and patience.
I have found
someone who has worked on himself and has healthy boundaries.
We are both interested in slowly getting to know one another
and growing together.
I still have work to do, but I keep in touch with MP to
reinforce what I have learned from her. She has played an
integral role in helping me change my life and I will always
be grateful to her.
